2021 will mark the second bottling of JOLOTAGE Reserve. 29% of the wine is from 2019 extended barrel aging of Zinfandel and Petit Verdot.  

This second bottling of JOLOTAGE Reserve represents the very best JOLOTAGE blend that we feel exemplifies the nuances and complexities of our prior releases. This is a combination of extended barrel aging and a blending of different vintages to create a one of a kind JOLOTAGE boasting dark fruit, mocha, leather and polished tannins yielding a long, lush and firm finish.

Varietal: 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 18% Petit Verdot, 11% Zinfandel

This is a proprietary blend each year specifically for the Cuvee, Premier Club Members at JOLO. The blend of wine represents the very best we have to offer in the winery each bottling. This wine boasts aromas of blueberry pie, blackberry and dark cherry that gives way to spice and chocolate. The palate is lavished with deep berry carried with a supple and velvety mouthfeel of perfectly integrated tannins and a long finish. This wine will continue to age gracefully for  decade or more if stored properly. You may pair this wine with steak, Italian food, cured meats, or just enjoy on its own.

A Port Style Dessert Wine

375 ml Bottle

This release is the third step in our journey of an old world style of “port” made using the Solera method. Although we cannot call it Port per the Government regulations because In 2005, the EU and US reached a bilateral accord to end a round of negotiations that had lasted twenty years. One of the significant parts of the agreement was that American wines could no longer use place names such as Champagne, Chianti, or Port on new wine labels unless you were commercially using them prior to that date.

The "Solera" style process is when we combine the past vintages ageing in barrels with the current vintage. We take just enough to bottle the current year and leave the remaining to continue to age with more air space  or "ullage" in the barrel which accelerates the oxidative affects on the wine, slowly turning the "ruby" ports more "tawny".

So this release is a combination of 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 vintages. These vintages have been ageing in French and American oak. Next year will be a combination of 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. And so on. So in 20 years, in every bottle will be 20 consecutive years blended into 1 bottle!  - A time capsule!!!

This wine is layered in aromas of figs, raisins, baked plums, licorice and baking spices with a hint of vanilla. The pallet is velvety, with a vein of acidity that runs through the finish. It is a blend of Cynthiana, Aglianico and Petit Verdot varieties.

This wine is one that can age for decades if you have the willpower. if you do not finish this bottle in the same day, simply put the cork in and put in your refrigerator until next use. It will be very drinkable for 4-6 weeks after.

This "sweet wine" was made from the same Vidal Blanc and Traminette as the Golden Hallows, just different percentges. The finished wine is then blended with the "sweet reserve" juice, which is just the pressed grape juice, to provide the residual sugar. It  has a residual sugar level of just over 8  imparting the perfect acid and sweetness. Although we label it as a sweet wine, it is flexible enough to complement Pâté, Foie Gras and ripened cheese. This exceptional wine was made in limited quantities without undergoing a secondary fermentation to preserve the bright fruit and mineral qualities. This wine exhibits the care and passion taken in winemaking at JOLO Winery & Vineyards.

After traveling to Spain and coming across the best Sangria of our lives we secured the recipe after ample coaxing.  This is a proprietary blend of JOLO barrel aged wine, citrus and fruit juices.  Our Tasting Lodge guests have been pleading with us to bottle it since we made our first glass.  Here it is!  It is rich and complex and on the upper end of Sangrias bursting with cherry, plum, citrus and mocha enhanced by a slight fizz.  Enjoy on the beach or with your favorite summer food.
